Wells Fargo Launches $100 Million Environmental Grant Program

Wells Fargo & Co. announced a $15 million relationship with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) that launches its new environmental grant program aimed at awarding $100 million to nonprofit organizations and universities by 2020. The five-year program with NFWF will combine the nonprofits’ scientific expertise with Wells Fargo’s philanthropic and volunteer resources to promote environmental stewardship in communities across the U.S.

Nissan sows green lab seeds

Nissan North America will give a Nashville, Tenn. green-focused community center a hefty cash infusion.

The company announced a founding partnership with East Nashville's Urban Green Lab, one of two local start-up nonprofits dedicated to building environmentally friendly businesses, communities, jobs and classrooms, a $100,000 initial donation with promises to match other gifts up to $100,000 and provide another $175,000 in cash over the next three years.

MacArthur Fund Unveils New Approach to Environmental Grants

The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation announced a new grant-making effort that expands its environmental giving beyond efforts to preserve land, seascapes, and species to tackle major threats to ecosystems, such as climate change, overfishing, and harmful agricultural practices.

The Chicago fund, one of America’s biggest philanthropies, plans to spend roughly the same amount on conservation issues — $176-million over the next decade — as it has been devoting to the cause in the past.

Lexington nonprofit to receive $3.2 million donation

Blessed Earth, a Lexington, Ky.-based nonprofit organization that promotes environmental stewardship of the Earth, has received a $3.2 million donation over five years to further its work among churches and seminaries.

The donation came through The Kendeda Fund, a Delaware-based charitable organization that funds many environmental projects across the country. Some funded projects are secular, such as Trees Atlanta, a citizens' group that plants trees and conserves the city's urban forest. Others are of a more religious nature, such as GreenFaith, an interfaith environmental coalition in New Jersey.
