If you haven't heard, we're hosting a little event on July 21. It's called the NonProfit PRO Emerging Tech & Growth Conference, and it's aimed at providing information and insight on the most pressing tech topics affecting modern nonprofits. Here are six reasons you don't want to miss it...
I had a delightful conversation with Cyndy recently. Cyndy is the executive director of an environmental nonprofit in the Southeast. She reached out to me ostensibly to get direction on how to execute a reverse auction at an upcoming event. I say “event” because, as Cyndy described her situation, it sounded much more of what I’ll call the “un-event.” When I hear a charity is doing another fundraising event, my mental images are of auctions, table sponsorships, and overpriced and over-cooked meals, all in an atmosphere just this side of a circus. Throw in a rock band and uncomfortable chairs and the description is complete...
Would-be president and billionaire businessman Donald Trump’s derogatory comments about Mexico and Mexicans cost him another business deal on Monday as the world’s largest sports broadcaster scratched his golf course for a charity match. ESPN, the sports channel which is majority-owned by Disney, on Monday said it would pull a charity golf event from a…
Earlier this year, a pair of nonprofits were hacked by Islamic State sympathizers. Ultimately, both nonprofits would recover with little lasting damage, but it was a chilling reminder that no one, not even small, low-profile organizations, is invulnerable to cyber attack. The scariest part? It can be so much worse. You've got to be prepared...
Is your nonprofit using the right technology—or, more importantly, is it using technology right? If you've never asked or answered those questions, maybe it's time for a tech needs assessment. Ron Marzitelli, assistant vice president of information technology, and Khamel Abdulai, workforce development specialist, both of the Excelsior College School of Business & Technology, are here to help.
Nick Ellinger has been busy. As vice president of strategic development for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Ellinger was tasked with unifying MADD's network of databases—including 20 in its home office and hundreds more in the field, with record systems running the gamut from custom databases to Access to Excel to pen-on-paper. It was a monumental task, one that's still underway, but with Ellinger's guidance, MADD has begun the critical task of achieving a true omnichannel marketing strategy.

At the New England Direct Marketing Association’s 2015 NEDMA Awards for Creative Excellence in Boston, DaVinci Direct won 17 awards—one of the highest award totals of any agency in the competition. “The…
How often do you try to connect with someone at another organization? Sometimes you need an opportunity to call on others without seeming too aggressive. If you have an opportunity to make a positive impression, do it.

What if your event was born and raised on registration fees? How do you transition from them? I've seen and heard of some horrific stories of efforts to change to a no-reg fee environment. At least one nonprofit accomplished the switch successfully.
