The Applebee’s restaurant at 71 Plaza Parkway, Lexington, will host the Carolina Cancer Services Flapjack Fundraiser starting at 7 a.m. Tickets for the Flapjack Fundraiser are $7 and include a short stack of pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. Cancer Services is a nonprofit organization that assists patients with treatment costs and provides wigs, breast prosthetics and nutritional products to clients. A group of three Libertyville High School students have organized a fundraising concert to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The average FY2009 total return on investable assets for 85 nonprofit health care organizations participating in the 2010 Commonfund Benchmarks Study of Healthcare Organizations was 18.8 percent (net of fees), a dramatic improvement over the -21.2 percent return reported for FY2008. The FY2009 return was the highest in the eight years the study has been conducted and came in the year following the poorest return of the eight Studies.
