Charitybuzz, which raises funds for nonprofits around the globe through online auctions with celebrities and brands, released its top 25 celebrity auctions of 2013.
The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City has received a $2 million gift from alumnus Calvin Klein, and the company he founded, Calvin Klein Inc. Klein made a donation of $1 million, through the Calvin Klein Family Foundation, which was matched by a $1 million donation by Calvin Klein Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of PVH Corp. This is the largest gift received to date from an FIT alumnus to the institute.
The online component of the second annual Bid to Save the Earth auction was launched Thursday and runs through April 7. A live companion sale is scheduled for March 29 at Christie's auction house.
The event will benefit the Central Park Conservancy, Conservation International, the Natural Resources Defense Council and Oceana. It raised $2.4 million for the four organizations last year.
