Historically, Sinai Health Foundation has been very successful at raising a lot of funds through events. According to Jamie Lamont, the nonprofit’s vice president of events, most of these events have been in the gala space.

Lamont, who has spent much of his career in peer-to-peer fundraising, is bringing his expertise to Sinai Health Foundation.

“We’ve got one signature peer-to-peer event called Raptors for Research,” he said as an example of the organization’s peer-to-peer efforts. “We partner with the Toronto Raptors, a NBA basketball team here in Toronto, to put on a three-on-three basketball tournament. It’s a pretty fun event; we had about 75 teams participate this past year [and] raised about $750,000 from that.”

Lamont explained that Sinai Health Foundation is always aiming to improve the success of future peer-to-peer events, including the Raptors for Research tournament.

In this episode of The NonProfit Voice Tech Series, Lamont joins Mark Becker, editorial advisory board member for NonProfit PRO, to discuss the tools and tactics nonprofits can use to establish and grow effective peer-to-peer fundraising events of their own.
